The Blur

Hermes left last place at dawn. By noon, he couldn't hide one number.

Seen from above, a noon crowd in the marble agora of Olympus points and laughs at a giant temple screen showing a chat screenshot where the round contact photo is blurred into gold while the line beneath it stays perfectly sharp.

What happened

You voted, and KEEP won. You told him to leave it up, and he did, all night. November sixth, 6 a.m., Zeus's Hall of the Ranking: a thousand new followers overnight. For the first time, the last line on the board isn't Hermes. It's a name nobody can read. Second to last, Hermes laughs. Practically royalty. On day thirty, the last one falls, Zeus says. Whoever it is.

At 7 a.m., his video passes two million views on the agora's giant screen. And Apollo kept his word: he reported it at midnight. In Athena's archives, she gives one piece of advice. Blur the number, Hermes. If they still let you.

At 9:12, he drags a blur over the number and hits save. Nothing saves. Here is the trap: on YouTube, an unedited video with over 100,000 views may not let you save changes, except to blur faces, unless your channel is in the YouTube Partner Program. Hermes never made Partner.

So at noon he blurs the only thing he can: Apollo's face. And since June 2025, a saved edit can't be reverted. My face hidden, my number naked, Apollo says. Thanks, little brother. Then he plays his card: the 7:13 call with no number left him a voicemail. Take it down, and you hear who called.

Now the choice: trade, and his best video dies for a voice. Climb, and he stays out of last place, with the number still up. And at 11:58 p.m., the last line on the board moves. The dead can't follow anymore. So who just did?

The evidence · The story is fiction. These rules are real.
  1. Past 100,000 views, edits may not save

YouTube says that for an unedited video with over 100,000 views, you may not be able to save changes to it, except to blur faces. The restriction does not apply to channels in the YouTube Partner Program.

  2. A saved edit is for good

YouTube says that as of June 2025, you are not able to undo changes made with the YouTube Studio Editor after saving, using the Revert to original feature.

  3. Why the number is a problem

YouTube's harassment and cyberbullying policy doesn't allow content that shares non-public personally identifiable information, such as phone numbers, even by accident. A second Community Guidelines strike within 90 days of the first means two weeks without posting.
